EPIC! Go Bone!

Just one thing I noted Lawrence tends to work his guns in damage order from lowest to highest I.e. Bolters -> Plasma -> Melta, tactically it makes sense to do it the other way around otherwise you potentially wasting damage from your high damage shots finishing off an already wounded model. Am I missing something here? Also great batrep again and it’s great to see Bone getting the Tau back into form!

It’s interesting, Bone’s style really isn’t Kauyon. His playstyle really suits the brash Mont’ka, at least fluff-wise. I wonder if he might consider calling a Mont’ka instead as part of his alpha strike, charging forward with his fire warriors and rapidfiring death across the battlefield.

I’ve been considering dropping the fists off brutes for missile launchers and holding them back as some cheap heavy support. It’s only 147pts for a missile launcher and twin lascannon, any thoughts on this or would it better to just go for havocs or maybe even pay the points for preds? for the points brutes just seem like a solid choice.

Hey Bone, would you consider adding kroot to your tau lists? (Or kroot hounds krootox etc)

The reports just keep getting better! Nice to see Bone finding his groove again as well. A ot of people have already commented on a lot of the rules errors, but I just wanted to add a Daemon Prince can only attempt one psychic power a turn. So that time you tried warptime and then smited cannot really happen sadly. I do want to add however that never in the history of ever did I play a 40k game and remembered all of the rules, so I do not expect you guys to!

Death guard can´t take terminators afaik, not in the death guard army list atleast

Hey Lawrence I only found this out myself today but if you look at page 105 of the Index Chaos it says that all demon princes gain the appropriate special rules when taking key words for the chaos gods, so your demon prince of Nurgle does actually get disgustingly resilient, it’s confusing because the profile on page 21 does not state this but unless I’ve missed something have a squiz at page 108 🙂

I love your guys videos, but I had to pause half way through this. The tau errors were real!!! There were so many re rolls for kauyon on the charges that that bones could have made. And the stormsurge had two flamers so it would have been 2D6 hits. Could have used commander shadowsun to over watch the prince also. Bones you gave yourself such a handicap that game man!! Looking forward to your disgusting tau list!!

To be fair; I think the Daemon Prince was a poor choice to throw against the Stormsurge or any sort of creature of that ilk if you take the double malefic talons ( unless it’s the Khorne Chaos Daemon variety for Unstoppable Ferocity). This is because while you have a blender amount of attacks the To Wound result is not favourable, and you need as many wounds to go through as possible between the 4+ shield and very likely the stimulant injectors!). If you charged it into the Fire Warriors you would have pasted them for example. I think the… Read more »

Great game. I think we all know that the real winner of these fights is lil Grotti.

really good battle report. Missed a few turns of combat from the tau after they got charged and as someone else said, the stormsurge has two flamers. But i think it is really difficult to get everything right. What you guys are doing is great and as a tau player it is good to see them doing better. I agree with Ben, stormsurge probably isn’t worth it for its points, but it is a massive distraction and intimidating for opponents. It tends to attract a lot of fire that might be going elsewhere.

has bone bought a tau’nar?

For the Greater Good
When an enemy unit declares a charge, a unit with this ability that
is within 6″ of one of the charging unit’s targets may fire Overwatch
as if they were also targeted. A unit that does so cannot fire
Overwatch again in this turn.

I think the Stormsurge being the charging unit-s target doesn-t need the rule for the rest of the units that have the rule to Overwatch, am I missing something?

The Stormsurge does have 2 flamers Bone other than that great game

Don’t forget that the Stormsurge has 2 flamers. So 2D6 overwatch and shooting!

Amazing game, one of the best 8th ed bat reps I’ve seen so far, it just swung every turn prettty much. Really liked that Tau list, a mix of infantry and battle suits is really nice to see. I think with Death Guard, their options are so heavily limited (unless you want to go generic Chaos) that it’s probably better to wait for the codex where we know they’ll at least get Mortarion, cult terminators and something called a Plague Crawler (a mortar weapon perhaps?). One thing to point out is that the controlling player always rolls for Explodes/Crash and… Read more »

I don’t know if it actually comes up in the video (as I haven’t finished it when writing this), but I think the Cadre Fireblade works the way you originally thought, not the way you discuss in your army list. The 6″ restriction is calling out units, not the specific models. Models are mentioned so that it is clear that each of them gets an additional shot and not just one additional shot from the unit. With the interpretation you mention in the army discussion there is zero reason to call out units and would have just called out Models within… Read more »

Great game as ever guys, just one minor quibble. When rolling to blow up a transport, it’s always rolled by the controlling player. Other that, spot on!

Bone ghostkeel got a -1 to hit if the enemy is at more them 12 inch of him because of ghostkeel electrowarfare suite. Nice batrep guyz!!

Bone, use a Pulse Accelerator Drone to extend your rapid fire range 😀
