Hello Stig, thanks for this video and following your example I have chosen to take Stygie VIII..and.. came up with something quite nasty you may want to test (for me it has worked really well over my last two games). At 2000pts if you choose only Faction “Skitarii” units you can field a Brigade (a whopping 12 CP and 18 unites). With “Clandestine Infiltration” Stategem you can deploy up to 9 unites (respecting the 9″ bubble) AFTER you find out who goes first. Combined with the Warlord traite which allows you to role a d6 to get a CP back… Read more »

Love the Beardoscope and great to have Beard back in a game!
I sympathise as a fellow Deathwatch player, can’t make the lists competitive and will probably be one of the last to get our codex. All we can do is make our lists fun.

Great job filming for your first game!!! Really great match up.

Speaking of rules however, I don’t think you would roll-off for first turn in Cleanse & Capture, no? It’s an “old” mission from the core rulebook, and those still use the old version, strictly speaking. Or did I miss the part in Chapter Approved where the variant found in the new matched play missions in Chapter Approved gets retroactively applied to the core rulebook missions?

Is it me or is the footage shaking A LOT at least at the beginning, does it have something to do with the stabilization process Lawrence?

Love the Kaiju reference Beard! Congrates on recording your first battle report and hope to see the deathwatch more my battle brother, not many of us out there (slightly complicated to build a list with them hahahahah)

This game looked like a mismatch at the start … but what do I know! First time seeing the Deathwatch, and was impressed with them: that is one cool flyer!

A few rules errors, turn miscalculations, etc., etc., but these can be waived in favour of Beard’s enthusiasm and all round Lawrenceesque commentary. As with Bone’s first outing (that doesn’t sound right, now, does it?): things can only get better.

Loving Beardoscope! Such and entertaining batrep, well done. One question, when those Dunecrawlers fell-back, was there a special rule that allowed them to shoot as well, coz I’ve never seen them do that in any other batrep? Looking forward to seeing a lot more of batreps Beard! I’ve never laughed so much in a batrep before.

awesome BR. longer than I thought… I called the deathwatch toast after turn 2(before the game started) specially when I saw that you didn’t mix in any GK or sisters. Way to hang in there!

You look very comfortable in front of the camera. And you did a good job behind it. Just learn those rules! 😛

Request: Full might of the Mechanicum vs GK

Cheers!

Awesome! Looking forward to more “Beard-O-Scope” Productions Battle Reports. BTW, the “Beard-O-Scope” logo needs to be a t-shirt. Just saying.

Excellent batrep, full of fun and, dare I say it, mischief. I’m going to sit back, sink a few cold ones and enjoy the mayhem. Cheers to all at T3 and all of my fellow community folk.

The only big thing that I kept seeing Beard is that you are so distracted with filming that you keep forgetting that you need to also roll to wound. You keep rolling to hit and calling them wounds.

Great armies! I LOVE dragoons, easily my favorite model in all of 40k, but as someone who owns 10 of them, I know your pain Stig, it is pretty brutal assembling those little… guys. Haha.

Saw some people say you shouldn’t infiltrate the Kastelan, I dunno it was a choice that I think ultimately paid off. You had a 440pts unit absorb the fire power of an entire army for a turn, AND they blew up and killed stuff, I’d say that’s pretty good!

Half way through watching and my email goes ‘ping! You sent and automatic payment to TTT’. All I could think was, £3.99 for this? Totally worth it!!!!

Glad I kept my sub when you had to drop Vimeo, it was wobbly for a little bit but yeah you are just getting better and better. Looking forward to what the next few months bring.

Seeing as its christmas I think we all deserve to see a special festive batrep with you all absolutely twisted on sherry or advocaat or some other awful xmas drink and beard as a metal santa

The batrep was ace but the star moment here has to be Lawrence creasing up throughout…???

At the 2:11:00 mark all I could see was that scene at the end of the movie Glory when Mathew Brodrick and Cary Elwise charge around a corner with Morgan Freeman and a canon with grape shot goes off in their faces just when the audience thinks they made it through! Ha ha, an epic last charge by those two space nerds.

Chris Hughes

Beardovision is go! Beard vs Beard! Good work on the camera and narration, some rules errors but understandable, OG Beard has a lot to think about and managed while Newb Beard is still learning the game. Enjoyed the battle. Both armies look great by the way.

Paul Holroyd

Good evening Beard and Stig. Good bat rep, thank you. There were to be fair more than the usual amount of errors for sure but it was a great first attempt and your camera work in particular was superb. I’m putting any rules errors down to nerves which is super understandable but keep at it! Tactics. I’m unsure how it would have gone but even with those cards I’d have been very tempted to zoom up the Deathwatch on turn one, ignore the objectives you drew and prep for a mass turn two charge on the dunecrawlers. This runs contrary… Read more »

So off the bat feedback for Stig, just because you have an ability doesn’t mean you should always use it. I think keeping your kasteelans back in your lines to prtect your squishies from assault would have been a better choice. You can always sneak a troop unit up instead and hide it behind terrain to try to make Beard waste time and resources on them. You should never through away an elite combat unit. Since his whole army was in fliers you could not assault even with first turn it just wasn’t worth the gamble.

Great production quality Beard! Lovely game

Kastellans start the game in aegis, you add +1 to there saves, this means they have a 2+ save and with shroud psalm its effectively a 1+ which helps them against the AP of weapons a lot.

I enjoyed the debut of Beardoscope. I’m sure things will go smoother for the operator/narrator in future films. Keep up the good work, guys!

Seán Kenny

Mistakes? Yeah, but screw it. As a first BatRep in BeardoScope, it was a riot. Very entertaining, really lolling. I almost prefer Lawrence as the trolling voice interjecting from the sidelines! 😛

Magnus
Magnus

Quick reminder: Objectives don’t actually take up space on the battlefield, so in turn 1 Beards last chargeing unit could have made it in.
This is also why it’s a good idea to move in chargeing units one at a time

Loved the game. Great match up. Not going to comment on all the little errors, because they’re understandable and they’ve already been addressed by others. I will, however, point out that Stig needs to start rolling his cognis stubbers together, rather than separately when they’re already going to be shooting at the same target (i.e. on his Neutron Laser crawlers w/ 2 stubbers, he kept rolling them 3 at a time, which is slower than just rolling all 6 together).

DakkaJoe07
DakkaJoe07

Just a quick question? i was unaware that you could modify a bs past a 6+. I ran into this problem before and i was told i could not shoot, then i was later told that a bs can only be modified to a 6+ as a 1 is always a fail and a 6 is always a pass. is this correct or was i misinformed?

Good game guys, I don’t mind mistakes being made, sometimes battling can feel like work rather than fun pastime! Also I shall run this game GBBO. Not Great British Bake off, but rather Great Battling Beard off! (You can have that joke for free Spider!) 😉

I gave some constructive criticism, so I feel I should give some good feedback as well. Joe (Beard) your camera work was AMAZING. Almost no movement of your hand at all, very steady, I really enjoyed that part. Our friendly neighborhood Spider could learn a thing or two from you there.

Tony Molinari

Guys, keep in mind that Ben and Joe are just starting out filming. Like everything in life, expect a learning curve. I would imagine that its quite difficult to balance the camera work, keeping it entertaining narration wise, and staying on top of the rules at the same time. I have enough trouble getting the rules 100% when its the ONLY thing I’m thinking about lol. So lets all give them our support while they are growing the channel, instead of ripping them for rules mistakes! Cheers gents!

Grendle

Nice job Beard! You have a natural personality for filming and commenting! Some rules mistakes, but if that’s the only hurdle, you are in a good position. All you need to do is brush up on the rule book. I loved that you consolidated into tanks to stop them from shooting, very tactical. Just a clarification, if people consolidate into you after close combat, don’t they then get to attack you back? Great first outing, and look forward to seeing more!

Still waiting for an AM Battlereport … >.>

It was still good fun to watch you guys. Just one thing: Please be a bit more accurate regarding the rules of each army.

Nevertheless, keep up the good work!

As I said with Bone’s first attempt, that was quality! I don’t much mind the rules mistakes, especially as I can see you developing in to a more of an ‘entertaining’ battle rep host (not a criticism in the slightest!!!) 🙂
With three of you now able to record it’ll be REALLY interesting to see you film a game between two other players. So you’d get reactions and thoughts from each player and dice rolls and hilarious commentary and narration.

Keep it up, hopefully come down and see you all soon. Need some chef pastry time with Chef HAHA

Lots of rules mistakes, but don’t let that bother you, Beard. It was going to happen the first time. Especially with an army you are playing eighth with for the first time. You’re my favorite on the show because of your humor and positivity. Both are very important and very difficult to get if you don’t have them already. All the negatives about this batrep are things that are both less important and easy to improve over time. The only gripe I have is I’m getting a bit burned out on Admech. Hoping to see some more Death Guard personally.… Read more »

Hi guys, First I have to say that I really love the way your videos are done. Its very entertaining to watch them. But I also have to do some critisism, because I think its fair to let you know. I think most on demand viewers have a good understanding of the game and it is annoying to see so many mistakes, even in the most basic game mechanics (like strength vs toughness wounding Chart). Second I would really suggest that the players have at least a good knoledge of their own armys stats and rules (like the Space Robots… Read more »

Nothing against Beard, but i think we just hit a critical mass of Mars Battlereports. I am starting to get bored of the same army! Besides that great job! I really like the dynamic of three people, its quite unique and fun.
