Please re-read the rules for Steel Behemoth, my interpretation is that the Baneblade CAN continue to fire overwatch, even though it is engaged.

Defensive Gunners + Vengence for Cadia, for overwatch, thoughts?

Lawrence, you will need a new intro video for “Lawrence of Tallarn” with you waving a sword shouting “No prisoners, no prisoners”

Given that the Tallarn special rule makes the purchasing of Heavy Bolter sponsons worthwhile, could you please take some time to explain weather Heavy Stubber copula upgrades are worth it (’cause they look great) and your stance on the other types of sponson guns?

having never done an itc competition. Are you allowed forge world. as salamander command tanks are good makes your tanks bs 2 and super heavy bs 3.
also search lights are cheap bs increase.

Actually Lawrence I believe you cannot ambush a Baneblade variant with sponsons. The Baneblade with sponsons is 7”. The rule reads you have to deploy wholly within 7” of a board edge. You may take a measurement but I don’t think you can use the Ambush strategem on a Baneblade with sponsons.

at 1:30:00 about when the plaguebearers attack the baneblade, wouldn’t the 6s to hit generate aditional attacks because of the scrivener?

Great rep guys, just one thing, Lawrence didn’t decide to use vengeance for cadia on the baneblade, which could have probably killed magnus on it’s own. Unless it’s been FAQ’d a rerolling hits and wounds baneblade for 1cp is pretty damn tasty.

sorry guys from the mention benblade and magnus you know its gg… as an avid magnus player consider playing a game 445 lower than your opponent.but gg valiant effort

This game really highighlighted the fact the deep strike BETA rules that they claimed were meant to stop alpha strikes list completely forgot to factor how potent the shooting alpha is in the game. I can appreciate your opponent dropping in your face turn can be uninteractive but so is having to run across the field to over 200 shots a turn. I relaly hope they can find some sort or middle ground between the two.

Defending the purpose of tactica games that if we want to see the hyper-competitive game there’s no way Lawrence can buy 30 different weapon loadouts and magnetize hands of indivitual guardsmen or paint a new paint-scheme every time meta changes so in my humble opinion it does more harm than good to limit the TTT crew even in Tactica series.

at 1:47:00 ish, don’t tank commanders hit on 3+? seems like a lot of 3’s were not rolled for wounds. not that it really mattered though

I think a few daemon princes are a better choice than Magnus or Morty, since they can hide and still do quite good damage when they get in.

Also a powerful soup could be nurgle daemons together with Death Guard, for instance have a look at the Foul Blightspawns, in some matches I’ve had them delete tanks and walkers in one shot, in others they can wiff a bit, but they are always scary, and can hide in the zombie/plague bearer swarm as well.

Thanks team for giving AM some love. As a Krieg player I approve. Sadly, I too am tempted to mix regiments as the DKOK ae currently lacking in vehicle special rules and stratagems, other than the fact that they are awesome to look at!
Lawrence, have your colleagues noticed yet how much the title banner Tallarn commander looks like you would, if you were to put on a keffiyeh??!! Subtle and sneaky. I like it.

Hey mate, no offence taken at all, I understand that things don’t always come across as intended when written. Just to reiterate, I agree with you 100%. It literally goes against my own standard of play. But as a show and to an audience of effective friends/supporters, it was only there for those that really wanted to see it, as I am always limited by the models that I own. In any case, I think most folks are happy to see me use the models as what they are. So I will keep on doing that in Tactica games going… Read more »

I kind of had this the other way round where I was playing a guy and I was working out the – to hit modifiers, I missed one, double checked with him and he agreed with my incorrect assumption. It was fine at the time and really I had already lost. But afterwards when I looked back I realised my mistake and I was a bit annoyed that he had seemingly given me an advantage.

I despise armies that are souped together with multiple chapters/regiments/etc, it’s so grossly cheesy. So I love your Tallarn army as is, it looks good, it’s thematic, and a smart list without needing to be asinine soup.

Fairly painful watch. poor auld Bone getting smashed into the ground. Gunline armies are easily the most boring part of 40k. Movement is such a crucial part of the game and when you essentially don’t have to it makes a pretty uninteresting game to both play and watch. I know its a tactica battle report but maybe match up the armies a little better before hand. I would also say that Magnus should never be taken in a competitive army as if you don’t go first he is essentially dead and at his points cost he’s not worth that risk.

RubenDf

Awesome report, and LOVE to see you guys using ITC missions and more competitive armies. It was an unfortunate match-up, as Magnus well and truly would’ve never survived, even if Bone went first – Even with Weaver and Glamour, the Spider obviously deployed correctly and Magnus would’ve invariably taken a round of damage no matter what, and there’s enough firepower there to bring him down, 3++ or not. Read through some comments regarding first and second turn, etc. and ITC actually favors 2nd turn quite heavily (scoring for more objectives and more kills is done at the end of the… Read more »

You guys should run the exact same game but switch armies. Spider using chaos and bone using the Tallarn. It’s hard viewing when a game goes south so quickly and a lot of it is down to horrific dice rolls. It would be great to see an alternative take on these incredible armies.

Poor Bone, what did you do to wrong to be given these recent dice rolls??!!

Awesone report gentlemen, thank you for it! I see many people critisizing “soups” in the comments – and I personally find it strange. In my experience, “soups” are not even just the “WAAC”-players territory. Many people I know started with pure mono-faction armies, but then switched to soups after they found their basic lists seriously lacking in certain areas. And most of them aren’t even competitive players! I face soup armies all the time – Chaos like the one featured in this report (Nurgle+1k Sons for sorcery), Space Wolves with Assasins and Celestine, IG or SM with allied Knights, Harlequins… Read more »

Wow, that shooting was really scary. Even with the minus to hit a bunch were still going through just down to sheer weight of numbers.
Makes me excited to see what else you guys can do with this army!

You definitely 100% should continue these tactica games because I know people love them but I personally don’t find them enjoyable to watch. They are so lopsided. It’s frustrating to watch. And bones dice get exponentially worse on these for whatever reason.

Someday Bone! Your day in a Tactica will come!

Lawrence, as per souping the Tallarn with Cadians or whoever as you said in the beginning. I would love to see that kind of stuff in the Tactica Reports, the adherence to single keywords that match paint is something that I think should only be adhered to in the regular reports, which I’ve always found are more about the fun anyways.

Imperial Grunt

Really love your new Tallarn army and great Tactica! Please do a Tau vrs IG Tactica, your Batreps and especially Tactica reports are great way for people like me who do not get a chance to play as much as they would like to, especially competetively. Super happy to hear you will also be doing more ITC reports as well since that is the main competitive format in my region. I have decided to make a second Astra Militarum army… Catachan Jungle Fighters. Can’t wait to start on them. The poor bloody guard really is the back bone of the… Read more »

Baneblades hit in combat on 5’s and do a flat 2 damage I believe.

Marcello Genovese
Marcello Genovese

I know it is rubbing salt in the wound but Lawrence should have used defensive gunners as well as vengeance for cadia when the plague bearers charged, hitting on rerollable 5’s would have been devastating… Also don’t forget guard have a stratagem to roll a d3 for moral.

Marcello Genovese

Fun fact, my very first 40k unit purchase was a box of Tallarn Desert Raiders when I was 12 way back in 2nd edition ha ha. This is awesome, glad you have a piece of history since sadly GW axed all the classic Guard metals, I am lucky enough to own at least one squad of each but I wish I had purchased a few more. In regard to the Ambush stratagem, embarked units don’t count toward the three. It’s like units embarked upon a raider with screaming jets for example. You can totally sneak a storm lord on sideways… Read more »

Thanks guys for this one, I really enjoyed it. I honestly don’t think you should feel the need to apologize for the outcome of a tactica game. You’re supposed to be playing the game at the highest level using the most optimized lists, lopsided victories are sure to ensue. People who want a fun and balanced outcome every game should stick to fluffier tuned down lists and house rules etc.

Really loving these tactica battles guys it’s shows that it isn’t just Cadia that’s the way to go. Would you guys consider AOS tacticas? Keep it up boys!

To me it looks like Magnus isn’t the closest model to most of the tanks. Is there some rule that I’m missing that would allow Lawrence to target him anyway?

Buddaboma

Havent seen any of this but i am already going to love it because of the tallarn. My favourite guard army by far. As an arab it was great as a kid to see people like me as the good guys instead of what you see most of the time. I hope that the Tallarn are still about when my daughter is old enough to start playing.

Bulwyf

If you listen to Spider ever speak in any batrep or list analysis or codex review he makes it abundantly clear he likes playing mono lists as much as possible because he respects the fluff/lore. As do I. Asking to include something like this for a tactica report just to represent ITC levels of play is fair play on his part. In short, you are barking up the wrong tree if you think that’s something that Spider or TTT routinely do or even try to do.

Hellstorm Wargaming

Great report. Have to agree with the comments about Rate of fire. It’s how I build my lists as you know. Infantry ans swarms win games. Mass shots kills them!

Captain Eschara

Hey great content as always- long time lurker, but am curious on your views on Leman Russ Conquerors? Had great success with them in my Cadian list, the Cadian order to re-roll the d6 shots combined with the re-roll to hit in 24″ makes it much more dependable.

Tabletop Tactics

For sure! Well allow me to clarify, as it sounds like you think I *want* to do the proxy. You couldn’t be further from the truth there. I play with fully painted armies and fluff is one of my primary concerns when building a list. When I go to a tournament, I never proxy different regiments/tactics and take a lot of care in painting a presentable army as I would see it in my imagination, as I’m sure you can tell by the games and the armies I have created here on the channel 🙂 However for the purpose of… Read more »

Gents, that was simply awesome! AM back on the channel and with an alternative flavour to the Col’s Cadians!? Brilliant – just what I’ve been waiting for. I cannot wait for the narrative games as I’m a Tallarn player that revels in the fluff and the opportunity that AM gives you to create your own epic stories. I’m also really interested to see AM with mixed detachments, i.e. a Vallhalla Inf Bn supported by a Catachan Spearhead or any other combo the devious nature of the Spider can dream up. I’d also love to see the Tallarns run in chimeras… Read more »

I think doing some counts-as and playing them as Cadians (Catachans, etc..) is fine in a Tactica game.

That’s, I believe, where the labels of your different shows can really come in handy to help inform people about what they can and cannot expect.

Danny Aland
Danny Aland

I don’t necessarily agree with the delivery, but I’m 100% behind the sentiment! One of the TTT biggest strengths from my perspective is how TTT keep it clean. I prefer straight factions generally as it forces you to fight with a weakness and really squeeze out everything you can from a codex. Resorting to soup and proxies removes some of fun and immersion for me personally.

Viktor

Also both list would have been wrecked by Alaitoc DR spam. Playing against 30 DR all with -1/-2/-3 to hit is Guards worst nightmare plus Vengeance for Cadia doesn’t work on xenos thus Baneblade is just overcosted brick of resin. And with screening Magnus wont make it through 60! damage 2 shots that ignore any minuses and if lets say the Eldar squeeze in Jinx and/or Doom there is nothing stoping the pain train. Yes this armies are competitive but not the ones to compete at the LVO or anything of that caliber. And Lawrence I remember you played against… Read more »
