Been away on Holiday so lots of watching to catch up on haha. Really enjoyed this so much I to had a little list fiddle with Bones 2k, I put it up on the forum and would love to hear what people think.
1 thing I will put up here for maximum controversy, with the space elves being so tricksy i find that 1 Tau unit which was a bit mehhh at the beginning is now almost designed for killing these guys and is overlooked and that is the SKYRAY

Great work guys! I tried the sacea marksman and it work well. I will disagree on the broadsides though. You mentioned how d6 shots is too unreliable and then in the next part said how broadsides were d6 damage so that actually evens out. The main benefit of the ion heads for me is their mobility though, it’s awesome and just as you guys have found with the broadsides, people are normally so focused on the ripples. Also ion heads are 2 bs (with ls) over 4 bs.

Apologies if someone has already suggested this, but you could do a ethereal and 3 marksmen as a sacea detachment. The ethereals power effect all tau. So they can sit with the riptides to give them 6+ fnp.

Ok, so at the risk of sounding like a horrendous butt hole:
1) Cyclic is pronounced Sick-lick, not psy-click
2) Nous rhymes with ‘house’, not ‘moose’

This horrific grammar nazism aside, great video as always and keep up the good work! Super stoked for Narrative batreps!!!

as an avid tau player with over 8k in points for them with no forge world i have played a lot of different type of lists in quite a few tournaments now, and I absolutely love shadow sun. So to justify doping her is hard. I understand being able to move is king right now but I usual grab all my secondary objects in the first 2 turns, and by then i am able to quickly accumulate the mission objectives because i have killed off roughly 1/3 to 1/2 of their army. by turn two.

Late to the party but had a busy weekend so only just been able to watch. On Bone’s list I really don’t like the single Sa’cea Firesight Marksman. It gives you the stratagem sure but you can only use it from that one model. So if he gets LoS blocked or killed by snipers. You’ve lost a command point for no benefit. Not good. Now about these Broadside fellows. BLEH! Get rid of them. Don’t move enough. Suck drones away from those Riptides. D6 Damage is unreliable. Same as D6 shots. So very easy to remove from the board. Very interesting list analysis as ever guys, really enjoy them even for armies I don’t use. I think Lawrence’s point on strength 8 weapons and Knights is very interesting, they have definitely shaken things up! I recently held a friendly tournament for our local club and the knight player really caused problems for some armies, myself included. I ran nids and won or had a good close game against everyone except the Knights where i didn’t get a foot in the game. I would be very interested in your guys take on how to deal with knights especially for more… Read more »

It’s worth noting that the auxiliary support detachment does not confur the sept tenet, so the firesight marksman wouldn’t be re-rolling to hit.

I would contemplate moving the ethereal and a fire warrior squad to a Sa’cea patrol, which would probably require a bit of jiggery pokery to fit the points in. The ethereal buffs are linked to empire rather than sept so it’s a great unit for sprinkling in other sept detachment.

These are a list of my favorite TT phrases….1. “Good news everyone” this is awesome on it’s on account but the fact that everytime it makes B-bone cry is an added bonus lmao. 2. “Its controversial” I’ve come to understand this is TT’s humble way of telling you that “you thought you were right…but….you’re wrong” 🙂
3. “That’s mathematics” this always seems to be stated as if everytime they have newly discovered mathematics for the very first time!

Love every video, even if the content isn’t relevant to me personal. The personality of you guys always makes it worth watching 🙂

Thanks alot guys, I have been waiting for a Tau list analysis. I have a very similiar list with a heavy Tau Sept battalion with 3 Riptides and 2 HRR Broadsides and Shadowsun as well as a light Sa’cea battalion led by a fusion Coldstar. I still think the manuverability of a Coldstar really helps with objective grabbing. Also in the Sa’cea battalion is 2 Farsight Marksmen, who are my main markerlight providers, along with Cadre Fireblades and 1 team of Pathfinders. All of my drones are shield drones, no ML drones at all. I totally get your point regarding… Read more »

Your list is well thought out Mr Bone, but I don’t think it has enough Command Points for my liking and would try to get 2 battalions or a brigade to maintain the following CP use per turn: Broadsides: Command and Control Node (1CP) Cadre: Uplinked Markerlight (1CP) Sa’cea Marksman: Orbital Marker Distribution Uplink (1CP) Riptide: Branched Nova Charge (1CP) Riptide (wounded only): Stimulant Injector (1CP) Not to mention if you really need a Knight or Baneblade dead, Focused Fire (3CP) However, I wonder though if you were to include Forgeworld would you drop the broadies to include Y’vahra? Here’s… Read more »

I’m not sure if anyone’s mentioned it yet or if you’re doing it purpose Bone but I think you mean acumen rather than acronym!

Thank you for a fantastic list analysis, i’m with him, i’m a boss not for the armies and games as much as the bosses who command the forces and make me laugh and spill beer on my models as I paint them. Agreed 100% with you bone, im running 8 x 9 squads if FW (ITC) and found darkstrider to be stupid good with that many, and yah know what I do to keep them alive like crazy long. Purple toga warlord from Sac’ea with Inspiring Leader from the BRB, LDR 11 fire warriors with a 6+ FnP makes me… Read more »

Hey guys, considering Broadsides are like the only Battlesuits in the codex without the fly keyword (so no falling back and still shooting). Would you consider taking them as 3 units of 1 instead of a 1 unit of 3? Just to nullify any potential charges that would shut down the whole unit. Also mortal wounds wont spill over causing mega death (I am not sure how saviour protocols work against physic if at all?) I know 3 drops instead of 1 isn’t great, but was wondering if it would offset the above. I guess you would need to spread… Read more »

Broadsides work much better, if you’re going to take them with HYMP. With C&C node they are devastating but they do suffer with mobility issues and not taking shadowsun means you reduce mobility. I only take shadowsun so I can montka without giving up kauyon. Otherwise you become a static gun line except for the riptides which are – 1 on their HBC when they move with your load out. Just my thoughts.

Great little mix of list advice and state of tau vis á vis the meta in general 🙂 I’ve mentioned this on other videos but I do enjoy that you guys sort of discuss the general state of the army when approaching these list analysis, since that gives the work you put in and the product more value in general and not only for the specific lists.

Thanks for another great video, now go enjoy the weekend and grab some ice-cold pints, sure know I am! 🙂

Ok, super-convoluted, rules-lawyery question on the Saecea (?) sub-faction stratagem. Hope I get the question across.

Given the recent Agent of Vect “info-graphic” from the Warhammer Facebook webpage, wouldn’t you need a battleforged Saecea detachment (excluding Auxiliary Support Detachments as per the Stratagem page in the Codex?) to unlock this specific sub-faction stratagem (e.g. the “Black Heart” of Tau)?

Or would an Auxiliary Support Detachment like yours be enough to unlock the Markerlight Bomb (or Agents of Vect), not being subject to the “excluding Auxiliary Support Detachments” phrase that usually sits on the Stratagem page of all Codexes?
