I think I will watch this one a few times. As a newbie to 40k my deployment seems to be in the blind monkey school of tactica and it looks like I just randomly throw stuff down and get tables turn 1. Lol

Excellent video. I have a question: will you go into more details in DRAGON to discuss how to effectively play from start to finish the different types of armies? Like one episode from list creation, deployment, strategy with an Assault army for example and another episode that does the same for a static shooting army.

Loved this video!!! As someone who stepped back into 40k earlier this year after more than a decade away, the deployment phase of the game has caused me the most heartache. Trying to figure out how to order my drops (deep strikers first?, flyer, scouts, etc) and place them to not totally give away the house and/or misdirect has been a challenging process. I usually take pictures of my deployments and look at them post game, after I’ve usually lost, and I feel like most of the time the deployment is where I went wrong (like you said!). I feel… Read more »

Thanks Oh Master for this lesson. Now, a bit high level on a certain points.
Some additional details should be given though (not leaving deep strike bubbles 9 inches behind you if you deploy center forward, leaving at least 3 inches between screening & alpha target)

I tend to use some combination of the deployment types with my death guard. A castle of 3 daemon princes and 3 plagueburst crawlers acts as a moving assault castle with the prince of chaos and arch contaminator auras buffing the mortars and spitters. This also screens out shooting and psychic by placing the weaker princes behind the resilient tanks, which are difficult to deal with effectively for most armies. Having the crawlers out front also provides effective over watch with auto hitting plaguespitters, and creates opportunities for countercharges against strong combat armies such as custodes. I use evasive strategy… Read more »

Thanks for doing these videos guys, I have lost some games before just because I deployed badly. Good to see some different ways to set things up.

Hello TT team I was just wondering if we were going to see the guideline chart you were talking about in the SACRED videos. It would be epic to have a reference as well.

when using the evasive deployment method, placing the wave serpents in the center front and the fireprisms in the back on either left or right flank, isn’t that technically screening as well? since the waveserpents usually contain guardians, which are effectively a screening unit. another way I tend to get around not having the aura buffs when using a evasive deployment, is by using say, kabal of the flayed skull so my kabalite warriors can reroll failed hit rolls if they are embarked on the venoms as well as the venoms thenselves, then I add a craftworlds detachment with a… Read more »

First off, this is fantastic content. I wrote and bought / built / painted my army before I saw the S.A.C.R.E.D series so would make some changes to my army but can’t (my nearest supplier of GW stuff is a 4 hour flight away and I live in a country with no civilian postal service). However, I’m attending the GT heat 4 so hopefully the DRAGON series will all be out by then and I’ll be able to muddle through (I will have had 0 practice games in advance. Nice work me).

Would of been nice if you covered a Deep Striking army (like your Grey Knights). For example I’ve got a Battalion of Intercessors and some Ravenwing bikers but then half an army of Deep Striking Deathwing ?
Or did I miss something?

this is really good, thank you.
I realise I’m jumping the gun bit here but what about releasing this concept in a book/ paper format?

Awesome video guys! I just want to wish you all at the Table Top Tactics team a very merry Christmas and a great new year!

My only concern is that you missed out on getting another acronym in there! If you’d swapped Evasive and Screening around, you’d have had your Deployment C.A.S.E.S episode 😉

What steps would you suggest in taking, midway through deployment, if you realise you’ve been slightly “out deployed”? Continue with the original plan, or, move towards a hybrid deployment to counter?

Eggcellent job gentlemen, all these Tactica videos serve as a great insight in what needs to be considered when playing 40K, which this noob very much appreciates.
Looks like Bone has his hair under control …..somewhat 😉
