Hey guys! First of all let me preface this by saying I absolutely love everything you do, have been a subscriber for over a year, keep up the amazing work! That said, I have one comment on a something I’ve been noticing recently: it sometimes seems like Line-of-Sight plays very little role in your guys’ games. If feel like I almost never hear you guys say “I wanted to shoot at X but I can’t see it with Y”. Maybe this is partly because you don’t play with the ITC ground-floor rules and all your ruins have windows. But also… Read more »

Take the Dark Angels for a spin chef 😉

I love your battle reports but I seriously can’t understand why don’t you put the whole army on the table when you discuss the lists. It’s confusing and unnecessary in my opinion.
Please consider this. Thx

I’d like to see chef play a pure guard list. As they seem very points efficient in your mind, it will be interesting to see your view after playing them.

Deep Strike / Tactical Reserves fix:

Anything can come in turn one, but if they do arrive on Turn 1, they arrive at the start of the charge phase, not the end of the movement phase (i.e. no shooting).

Thoughts?

Slaanesh Daemons!!! I’ve only ever seen one bat rep anywhere ever using pure Slaanesh Daemons, and it was a BEAST they were so fast!!

Actually Primaris marines would be really fun to watch with the new specialist detachment.

Quick question for the lads. If the Chef is number 3, what is the number on everyone else’s shirts?

Quite a serious disparity in list power in this batrep imo. A Krast Gallant leading a Scion/Cadian IG force is a tidy list.

I feel like a Thousand Sons detachment would have helped Chef match the imperial soup. But of course, Chaos are in this weird situation where people are absolutely loathe to soup them, due to fluff-emnity between the various legions and gods. But to stand a chance against a decent Imperial list, I think we don’t really have much choice.

The few times I’ve used the Blood Thirster, I took the Armour of Scorn for the 4+ invul, which also gives a deny attempt 🙂 It’s a bit sad you need to spend the relic to get a 4+ invul, but there it is.

Chef, I want to see you play Space wolves!!! Or at least an Imperial soup with space wolves in it

@Chef. – Maulerfiends + Hellbrutes (Hellbrute Fist/Power Scourge) 27pts cheaper which will give you more Khorne Berzerkers to pack those Rhinos 🙂 If you throw the Hellbrutes into a Vanguard detachment with a Exalted Champion or Dark Apostle (both?) and choose Renegade Chapters Legion, that’s a potential round 1 charge. Could probably argue that Mutilators could even be better, 9″ drop on turn 2, an almost given guaranteed charge, but the Fleshmetal weapons can be iffy, and their Toughness 4 means they can be torn apart easily by anything they didn’t kill on the charge.

Run some orks! We need more Ork battle reports!

How about an optimized Ork army Chef? Since you already kind of ran the sub optomized list back when the codex was released. Let’s see 90 Boyz and the Loota Bomb on the table!

Chef get back to your baking roots, three croissants again with the CA pts drop and maybe pair them with the three baguettes of the doomsday variety!

The modifiers before multiplication thing has been very contentious in my gaming group. Can I get a citation for which FAQ clarified that?

You know seeing how annoyingly persistent them Maulerfiends were i’d be very interested to see how Defilers perform these days after they got another massive points drop in chapter approved. With the cheapest gun (reaper auto cannon) and the Defiler scourge they are only 10 points more than a Maulerfield and have pretty much the same output in the fight phase as well as 2 more wounds and a free battle cannon. Along with the reaper auto cannon, its all heavy weapons so would be hitting on 5+ but for the cost its almost like a free bonus for something… Read more »

I’d love Chef to run his T’au (which we haven’t seen for quite long time) vs the Spider’s Ravenwing (which also hasn’t been featured on the channel for some time).
Great batrep as always, keep it up!

I’m pretty sure in one of the FAQs they dropped that plus 1 to invo for daemons down to one cp.
Right now im actually running a pure Khorne deamon list where I use 2 battalions of bloodletters with only one of them being a full bomb and also using the bloodthirster of rage with the big ol axe. I give him armor of scorn relic so he starts with a 4+ invo and then he gets his strength 16 two D6 picking the highest dmg axe. Hes pretty decent for his points cost now.

Chef, thanks for taking Khorne out for a spin. Overall it seems that you folks need to exploit the Daemon keyword synergies between codexes a bit more. Lawrence mentioned a Nurgle Oblit list with a Great Unclean One last year, but that was the last time I heard the synergies discussed. Daemonkin lists are actually really strong if you exploit the synergies properly. Stratagem crossover was generally ruled against, but aura abilities, powers, and relics all work as long as the keywords are there. There’s even an example in one of the FAQ docs that shows how Possessed benefit from… Read more »

Watching this while converting Blood Warriors from AoS to Khorne Berzerkers for 40k, starting a World Eaters army. Will just go full out assault, no shooting and wreck everything, or rather i will get shot off the board turn 1 or taken down by a better assault army. Hoping for a World Eaters Codex in March/April if there is a chaos part of Vigilus coming out. Great game though, and love the discussions around 40k in general.

Thank you for running the Bloodthirster for no other reason than the fact that it just illustrates how fragile they are and just not worth it – even after the CA points drop.

Surely Khorne Flakes is a Khorne/Nurgle Soup? Though the way Chef was rolling they were more Quorn than Khorne…. I’ll see myself out.

Oh and T’au for the next army Chef.

I really wouldn’t mind seeing Chef run a space wolves list, and hearing his thoughts on how Thunderwolf cavalry are way too strong to get the storm shield point drop like every single other non character unit in the game.

While this is a bit gamey, @44:49 Chef, because you have a Khorne Daemon detachment, you can actually re-roll your charges for your Maulerfiends if they’re within range of 6″ of your Bloodthirster. This is because they are in range of a KHORNE DAEMON character. “But John, they aren’t part of the detachment itself” you may say. To which you’re absolutely right. However, there are actually two rules at work here. The wording of the rules states that you qualify to get the rule in the first place only if it’s a Daemon detachment made up of all similarly marked… Read more »

Great game and fun to watch! I was a bit disapointed by the lack of “rant” at the start, but you made up for it at the end ;-). Now the sudden death no longer aplies in certain scenarios, how about a list with as many aircraft a possible? We do not see that often. Spider your rolling is almost “offensive” sometimes… I think you should have to put into place a “Spider 6s jar” each time you roll a 6 you put a coin in, and he who looses can use the jar the next time you go to… Read more »

If you have them ready i’d love to see Chef use the new Ork Speed Freak models. The megatrakk scrapjet is my favourite new model from 2018 and i’m in the middle of building my own Evil Sunz army because it.

Big double handed axe Insensate Rage either does a sweeping attacks thing (double your attacks hit at Suser AP-2 D1) or hit super hard at (Sx2 Ap-4 D D6 but you roll 2D6 and pick the highest)
