Nice Gk Report! 🙂

Bit late to watch this and I am a returning player from 4th ed so not great on the rules yet as it has only been a month and don’t have anyone to play with atm so no experience. If someone could clarify that would be great, when the GM was consolidated, contesting the objective near the end does he not get the knights of titan special rule(objective secured)? How does this rule work if it doesn’t work in this situation? Thanks in advance to anyone that takes the time to answer.

Bolter Drill doesn’t work on Characters all the time like you played it. It only works all the time on Vehicles, Terminators, Biker, and Centurions. Characters have to stay still for it to work. Centurions with hurricane bolters could be good now though as they halved in points with CA 2018.

Good battle report, fun to watch.

Looking forward to a game where a Marine list faces a non-marine list. i believe that is where Bolter Drill will show it’s worth.

Thanks for a great show fellas!

Nice 1 boys.. please dont forget.. seen in a few batreps that you guys forget to reroll 1s on overwatch for your grand master..

I think a land raider crusader with the new rules + psybolt bit ruin a few peoples day!

So with the new bolter discipline beta rules, wouldn’t beards terminators have 8 shots apiece with the combi bolters from 9″ away? Or is it just from range over half?

Lawrence… you remembered.

You remembered… Death. To. The. False. Emperor.

You absolute BOSS! /happydance.

Lawrence at 50:00 when Beard is 12 inches away (is he twelve?) shouldn’t his 3 storm bolter termies get 24 shots? He is withing rapid fire range (shoots twice) and has bolter drills (shots times two) and the weapon is rapid fire 2.. so that is two shots.. doubled for rapid fire doubled again for bolter drills, so terminators get 8 shots each, 3 terminators get 24 shots… I have not watched on yet so forgive me if you address this at the start you said the rules didn’t help you very much but similarly, surely if your grey knight… Read more »

Lots of tactics error on Beard (no offence thousand sons is very finicky), one thing you should always consider with thousand sons: don’t spend cp on reroll unless it is critical because you can always swap a spell and cast it for 2 cp (chaos familiar + the great sorcerer) and even add 2 to it with cabalistic focus when they are out of deny The seer’s bane is actually pretty good since it gets *2 strength vs psyker or Ld9, is -3 ap and d3 damage, exalted sorcerer can take two power sword to get 5 attack (6 attack… Read more »

um… why does slay the warlord pop up at 1:34:00 ish? O.o

Enjoyed this batrep a lot! I was wondering if you could show us some (tactica) batreps featuring primaris marines? In the voxcast about the Chapter Approved and Vigilus campaign rules you guys said they became a lot more interesting and competitive, I was expecting bat-reps to show this off, but there havent been any…

What do you think about warding staves for your strike marines? Does the 5++ invuln help them at all?

Pete Dunn

Beard – not sure on T3 why you weren’t trying to shoot the NDK GM on one wound. It would give you STW and also put you on the road to kill more. Shoot what you can kill rather than undamaged NDK

Lawrence I’m pretty sure your Nemesis Dreadknight was out of range to activate when you attacked that last Scarab Occult Terminator (my understanding is that to activate in the fight phase you must either have charged OR you must be within an inch of an enemy unit) maybe you were within an inch but from the angle you looked like you were way out!

Awesome batrep either way, Beard is getting much better at remembering his rules ?

Keep up the good work!

The ruberic marines should have perils of the warp when they rolled double 6 to kill an interceptor

Great report as Always.:)
Being a newbie player I would have a rule clrafication question:

At 1:15:25 the grandmaster seems to be further than 1 inch away from any enemy unit so he could not have been activated to fight (he did not charge). Is that right or I overlooked something?

whatever imperial savant built that wall needs to be fired

Great battle report! I must admit I was pretty crushed that you didn’t have any terminators for this. I made a pretty decent list running them, but you have to sacrifice some of your big units (Dreads and DK’s reduce in number) to make it happen.

Break Break

Why a Paladin Ancient instead of a Brotherhood Ancient?

man, it’s really good to have Beard back as often as he has been <3

Ah when you picked up DTFE for the terminators but the moments later totally forgot it for Ahriman when he rolled a 6! could of ‘been significant’ 😀

With the bolter beta rule am I reading it wrong? You get double the number of attack if the rule applies. So rapid fire 2 @24″ gets 4 shots but 8 shots @12″?

Danny Aland
Danny Aland

I think dropping the strike marines and banner/captain to the Thousand sons deployment side may have been better/ Moreno cinematic play. Bating the denials with the D6 smite so you can relocate the gm with GoI allowing the re-roll to hit and charge on the back of the occult terminators. Remaining dreadknight and dreadnought tackling the rest in Melee over a couple of turns.

Danny Aland
Danny Aland

Correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t recall you smiting with your GMNDK’s, as they know 1 (in addition to smite) but can cast 2?

I really want the terminators to be good, but at the moment I’m not convinced, when you can deepstrike your strikes into position anyway, they are just much more points efficient.

Really enjoyed this one. I love the Grey Knights army, those Dreadknights are beasts!

Instantly forgets death to the false emperor on ahriman ofc after doing it on the termies heh. Great batrep anyways 😀

Beard also used fire frenzy to shoot at targets not closest to the dread.

Joshua Matthews

lawrence i saw lots of cheating and robbing beard of points in turn 3 after he killed more that round you naughty boy

B-Rad

New goofy grey Knights list to try that takes complete advantage of the beta bolter rule; three crusaders, 15 terminators, voldus, draigo, captain, ancient. The rapid fire would be triggered the whole game.

Great Bat Rep with good fun 🙂

Matt Green

Why do you guys never use fire frenzy on the hellbrutes? 1cp and it could of shot twice in the first two turns into the venerable dreads as they were the closest targets. – NM beard did mention it haha, i should watch the whole thing first 😉

Samuel Aster

so instead of shooting the nemesis warlord with 2wounds left he shoots the full life nemesis dreadknight with full life, interesting choice mr beard :’D

Hi guys,I enjoyed the batrep. Two interesting armies to try out the new bolter beta rules.I hark a few other comments in wanting to see some tactica and more honed list for th Thousand Sons as they are an interesting army to watch. For a different boler beta batrep, would you guys consider raven wing vs guard or Tau to see how they fair?

Psychic slug fest! good to see Beard bust out a clasique quad 1 there, vintage.

I don’t know ’bout dat Sorcerer peeking ’round the corner T1. That’s a lot of faith to put in the structural integrity of Imperium Savings & Loans 😀

Very nice Battle Report! I must say that although it is nice to see Grey Knights do well, I have yet to see a decisive Thousand Sons victory anywhere on the internet.

Phil Stein

Good batrep dudes. Nice to see Grey Knights have a bit of success for once. The new Beta Bolter rules, while not exactly “fixing” Astartes units with issues (and actively screwing some, like Black Legion), definitely provide a little help. My buddy who plays Space Wolves now is really happy he’s built some Index option Wolf Guard Bikers with Storm Shields and Storm Bolters, and is now thinking about adding Wolf Guard Terminators for more deepstrike dakka. While others seem to be commentating on various faction rule flubs that I won’t comment on, there is one mission rule flub I… Read more »

Did Beard forget to take his perils damage when he super baby smote your Interceptors?

Lawrence! Thank you for another GK batrep! Nice army. I look forward to seeing how the terminator version performs, though I’m skeptical that the points sink into terminators will yield better results.

PS **cough** Disc of Tzeentch makes the rider gain the DAEMON keyword! Therefore your smites on Ahriman should have been dealing 3 mortal wounds to each! And your combat attacks should have been re-rolling failed wounds! **/cough**

Why no Psybolt ammunition on that first salvo from the interceptors?

What a cool matchup, thousand soms seem to be in the ascendency . Would love to see a tactica with a deathwatch soup after this bolter rule
