I really wish Forgeworld units were balanced. The Decimator with Butcher Cannons are way to cheap. They are a few points more than a hellbrute except with a 5++ and a wound regen. While also getting the demon engine keywords for all the demon engine buffs – except unlike every demon engine, they have a 3+ BS.

This was Chaos’s game to lose. You could play this 10 times and barring Chaos rolling well below average or the Primaris rolling well above, Chaos would win every time.

Hey TTT-Team,
Death to the false Emperor triggers on 5+ whenever Abby is your Warlord due to “First among Traitors” 😉
This would have generated a lot of extra attacks during the last two rounds of combat.

Awesome report! You’ve inspired me to leave the cultists at home and roll out my own Black Legionnaires. Also with the new FAQ, Daemon Princes are LD 11 if they’re Black Legion 😉 – and Abaddon too! (+1 due to BL Legion trait).

Regarding usage of Talon & Drach’nyen – you can definitely put your additional 6 attacks with Drach’nyen. Think people before were telling you that you could put 6 into the Talon, and still get the D6 for Drach’nyen – as previously

Both pronunciations of Abaddon are correct. Say however you like. 😀

Every time… bolt on all primaris models (or plasma pistols on hellblasters).
You can ALWAYS shoot with primaris.

You guys are 100%right with the rules for Drachnyen. The danger comes if you nominate all attacks with the sword, then roll a 1…that means Abby doesn’t get to fight that turn . I guess the sensible thing to do would be to see how many extra hits you get first before declaring which weapon you will be using.

Aba (same as yabba dabba doo) ddon like a mafia don is how you pronounce it . Abaddon. I believe it is pronounced the same as the demon in the Bible which is our friendly Despoiler gets his name.

I haven’t even watched the report yet. Triggered by the start. READ IT. Roll a D6 each time Abaddon fights… On a 2+ he can make the additional attacks with this weapon.

So its simple. Its 6 attacks with the talon (unmodified) then D6 attacks with the Drach’nyen.

Its not hard to understand that? Its like a hive tyrant gets extra attacks with its tail.

Drach’nyen only sucks if you roll a 1 and hurt yourself.

Hi guys, Great battle report as always,
I think the ancient is awesome, shame you didn’t have an opacathary there as well to bring the dead back after the ancient had made them shoot 😂👌🏽

Lawrence,

You are an absolute classic of talking your chances/position down 😉

Is there the possibility of running both a score counter and command point overlay so we have constant reminder?

Keep up the good work.

It kind of sucks that oblits are very well costed as slaanesh, but way overcosted if you play any other god.

Now i will forever accidentally call him abdomen the despoiler.

Great Batrep, thank you. One thing about the IH chapter tactics that you’ve been doing wrong this game. You should have been making those FnP rolls two at a time rather than roll the whole pile at once. A Butcher Cannon does 2 damage, a Primaris Marine has 2 wounds. So let’s say you fail 2 saves, which means you have to roll your FnP. If you roll all 4 dice (because it’s 4 damage total) together, and get one 6, then you can’t tell whether it’s one marine dead and one losses a wound, or whether that FnP happened… Read more »

About the Talon, I get the confusion. I’ve heard from my friend who plays Black Legion that it works as “you can make all attacks on the Talon, but at least one has to go on Drach’nyen, which generates the extra attacks rule” and I just took him on his word, but after hearing Lawrence read it out I have to agree with you guys. It sounds exactly like how the Blight Drone works.

Is it wrong I want to make a Successor Chapter called the Bearded Dragons?

Hi guys, my first time posting. I just wanted to say fantastic high quality battle report as usual. I don’t know if this has already been mentioned, but Lawrence was pronouncing Abaddon correctly. There was a designers interview for the new model on Warhammer TV with both Jes Goodwin and Seb Perbet pronouncing it like Lawrence. Much love and respect keep up the good work.

Thanks for battle report gentlemen!
I am a bit stupid. I just realize you got the Obsidian Dragons so you can try tactics for all chapters without painting the models for every different one)))

Brilliant report again guys.
Been meaning to ask – is the veteran upgrade *actually* worth it?
A minimum of 5 CP to use it once is brutal (even if marines not full of good strats)

I think main issue in the evd was not making use of the walkways as cover

Kbarnes2

It’s also worth noting that dude to his warlord trait, abaddon gets dttfe on 5+. Additionally, you can reroll ANY hits, so you can fish for further DTTFE, with the assurance that you’re hitting on 2s anyway

Kbarnes2
Kbarnes2

100% right re. drachnyen. You can make all your attacks with it, but if you attack with the talon, you can still make the extra attacks with drachnyen.

The Orbital bombardment stratagem on turn one might have helped salvage that a bit

Bloodgrave

Really rating the Veteran Intercessor Squads, ever though of giving a 10man squad Stalker Bolt Rifles, essentially making them all snipers by using the ‘Target Sighted’ stratagem? back-lined with a Captain and Lieutenant nearby thats x10 36″ str4 -2ap dam1 shots, 6s causing an additional mortal wound against enemy characters, could be interesting!

That intro was excellent, really set the tone. Great job as usual.

Have only just started watching, epic intro! Chops to you (Lawrence?) for some nice editing, fx and also crediting your music sources in the end credits.

Andrew Carter

As far as I can tell you can choose which weapon to attack with for Abaddon, but Drachnyan will always give you D6 attacks extra regardless.

Wonderful battle report, gentlemen! As a longtime Iron Hands fan, I am happy to see them at least get mentioned in a report! My only complaint is that a fluffy Iron Hands list would probably have used more dreadnoughts and armor, but beggars cannot be choosers. Bone certainly deserved more saves from The Flesh is Weak, but sometimes that is just how it goes in a game of dice. I agree with your post-game assessment that front-lining the army would have been very beneficial for Bone and made his first turn have much more punch, especially because he didn’t have… Read more »

Another great batrep 👍🏻

I’m no master of chaos but a quick note when using the warmaster as your warlord you get the warlord trait that allows DTTFE on 5+ instead of 6 (6inch bubble).. all kinds of damage ☠️

I hardly remember DTTFE on a good day having said that 😅

I run an 18 man noise marine unit in my Emperors Children regularly and it’s very fun and moderately effective. With respect to a large unit of chaos marines, before I see your unit perform here, I think they should be similar in effect especially with 2 chain cannons and abaddon standing nearby. A spartan assault tank is a good partner to a big unit like that too

can we stop spending so much time trying to “work out how it ends” and just play it to the end??????????????????

Akrabra

You argue that the Obliterators are worth it for the points, but it is only when they are mark of Slaanesh and have access to psychic support. The minute you take them as something else they are just too expensive. Has to be a cost that reflects the viability for all the Legions and Renegade Chapters.

But a great battle and was a real joy to watch, was a lot closer than I thought it would be.

Flapdoddle

Grrrrrreat vid! Nice to see the blob of 20 marines. I’m pretty close to finally fielding 20 Plague Marines, which I *think* should be fairly tasty.

Brett Pettitt

I agree that you can choose what weapon you can attack with – Abbadons rules dont restrict him. On a note, as all of his attacks are done at the same time, wouldnt you get to roll on the banner even if you put the attacks on him first? I can’t overstate the value of suppressors in a primaris list. 105 points for 3, grav chutes for deep strike, good range on auto cannons and overwatch blockers too. As for 10 man units of infiltrators, doesn’t the 10th man have to be a helix or have i read that wrong?

Lawrence, why not spruce up the Leviathan or contemptor with the daemon engine/vehicle upgrades?

Awww yisss, gonna enjoy this today at work. But, as an aside, I’ve got a suggestion for you fellas to toy around with. I don’t know if y’all have got a schedule for what you plan on doing for your first show out of the new studio, but if you haven’t, I thought of something that might be a little crazy, but would be super cool: a 3v3 3000 point Imperial vs. Chaos Bloodbath Special! Bone with the Ultramarines Sanga with the Blood Angels Stig with the AdMech vs. Spider with the Black Legion Beard with the Iron Warriors Chef… Read more »

It clearly states on Abaddon that “Each time the model fights” you have to roll on the D6, you can though put all your attacks into the Sword, or all the attacks into the Tallon, and just the additional into the sword.

Hah, ty Bone, a mate of mine plays Black Legion quite often so I regularly have to dread facing Abaddon, whom I shall from now on refer to as Abdomen! As far as I’m aware of (being on the receiving end!) he makes his standard attacks with the talon, and the extra d6 attacks are from his sword. Great fight as always guys, crazy how quickly you churn out new content & really makes a sub feel worthwhile. Still the best channel for battle reports I know!

Yaass… it’s Bruce Pain time (I hereby up myself by renaming him Bruise Pain).
It’s Abaddon The *Despoiler*
As to the Leviathan thing, isn’t it a bit like apples and oranges? Leviathan’s aren’t Daemon Engines, and half the reason why you are taking them I assume is due to the synergy with the Master of Possessions, not to mention the Lord Discordant (eventually)

Just had a thought; in a Black Legion list, wouldn’t Abaddon actually have Ld11?

Lol. How is it you have Siege Studio-painted models barely released 2 months ago, while I am still waiting on my Siege Commission from last September, getting nothing but lame excuses 6 months straight from James?

Fething scammers.
