Warhammer 40,000 Campaign Battle Report: Ghostmaker Mission 1- A Rising Storm

Deep within the Cicatrix Maledictum, the excavation of planet CM-9 by the Inquisition has so far gone without incident. But as a strange storm approaches site four, some claim that voices can be heard on the wind… something in the storm is coming for them… and some things should remain buried.

  • Chris Patten

    omgomgomgomg. best christmas ever.

  • Paul Nichols

Nice! Happy holidays to all at TTT.

  • Thomas Brouer

That moment when you are watching this intro with all the rain, while it is raining outside = IMERSSION 9000%!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I_cato_sicarius

Well that’s sandwiches for the wife and kids for Xmas lunch tomorrow then…
Seriously been looking forward to this for a long while.

Merry Christmas to all you guys if 2018 is half as good as 2017 it will be pretty epic!

  • Adrian Warner

Only got into this hobby a few months ago, so glad I came across the content you guys do. Thanks for all the entertainment, have an awesome Christmas everyone.

  • Eddie

    At last! Merry christmas TTT!

  • Paul James

Happy Christmas you bunch of bosses! Going to enjoy watching this, been looking forward to the release for so long now πŸ™‚

  • Jamie Swift Drake

A double 1. Of course it was a double 1! Never change, Joe – never change.

This campaign looks simply incredible. Loving the voice work at the start. Never watched/followed a narrative campaign before – very excited! What an awesome Christmas present. Have a great holiday, guys!

    “All is dust”

  • Jon N

Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in! I have been waiting for this since I was 11 years old, that intro blew my socks off and possibly annoyed my neighbour who is now wondering if I speak in tongues, this gentlemen is the future of battle reporting. Merry Xmas!

  • Brian Cortese

Where on the website are your narrative rules?

  • Thomas Sierp

best chrissie present. We’ll be kicking this off in the new year. Thanks lads πŸ™‚

  • Kev

    Very very inspiring

  • Viktor

at 1:35:35 Karnek perils as he rolled 11+1 for his relic is 12. Roll even now as he has a whopping 66% to die as he has legendary fighter WT, not Tenacious survivor.

    • Anders Jeppesen

Sorry mate, perils are on double 1 and double 6, not 2 and 12. So that is not a perils πŸ™‚

      • Viktor

Recall how they played it in the studio with Liam’s Orks when he had +5 for casting for his weirdboy. Just thought it is the same story here, maybe there was a specific rule stated that weirdboys perils like that, tbh i’m not too familiar with Orks in 8th ed.

        • Ryan Goss

That’s a weird boy specific rule.

          • Lee Dignam

Remember that modifiers modify the dice rolls, not the totals, and perils specifies on a roll of a 12 or more, you peril, so a perils would have been triggered then as far as I understand the rule. If that specific sorcerer rule says “you MAY add +1 to the roll” however, then we’re good, because you’d just choose not to.

        • Viktor

Okay Okay, finally got my hands on index xenos and indeed it fun time to be orks, surprise surprise again. Only orks suffer perils on a roll of 12+ . Even when they need to be just a bit more competitive they recieve yet another handicap. yeah for them its easier to get a huge bonus but an CW, GN, or even TS with +2 to cast to cast smite can be easy to find.

    • Jonathan Taff Jones

You only peril on a direct roll of a Dbl 1 or a Dbl 6 unless you are orks.

    • David Barton

It’s not a peril if it’s 12+ (Otherwise Magnus would be constantly suffering perils), it’s perils of you roll double 6 or double 1.

  • Lee Dignam

Guys, this was amazing! Really enjoyed the hell out of that. I normally paint while I’m watching TTT, but I couldn’t do anything else while watching this one. As a writer, I really appreciated this. Great stuff, can’t wait for the next one! Merry Christmas!

  • Ghislain Vallieres

    Mary xmas, joyeux noel everyone

  • Metalfist

I dimmed my lights for this, I regretted nothing. What a masterpiece, Merry Christmas Everyone!

  • Chris Hughes

This was awesome! What a brilliant first game, I didn’t know who to root for πŸ˜€ The Thousand Suns look amazing, I guess they were the secret project?
I can’t wait for the next episode!!

    • Anders Jeppesen

Magnus was spotted in the background on a pan of the shelves so yes, we will see something of an escalation campaign.

      • Chris Hughes

Yeah, I noticed him in a couple of Bones batreps! I was hoping for the 1k sons to be the secret project even before then!

  • mcchoi13

Amazing! that Inquistor Malakai is such a force to be reckon, totally smitten me (Lawerence’s joke) amazing narrative again guys. keep up the good work! Have a Merry Christmas to you guys and fellow tabletop viewers

  • Sargos

warptime is only 6 beard :(, and also 3 inch range..
thats what happens when you betray our Legion Brother! iron warriors only!!! [i will look the other way this narretive camp only :)]
Bone you awsome! Lawrence you know how to make cenimatic stuff! i watched alot of other wargamers but none of them in the high quality and professional as tabletop tactics
happy christmas and hanuka guys! cheers and love
    beard you still awsome

    • Anders Jeppesen

Yeah, warptime is only 3″ range. Such a good power with a really short range πŸ™

  • Gordon Wilson

WOW. this video just caused me to resubscribe. I have never been more gripped by a bat rep.

  • Goran Calic

    So epic! Goooossbumps!

  • Andrew Carter

Christmas has certainly come early. That was an excellent start to the new campaign, I’ve been waiting for this since the Gaius War finished and amazingly the production value is even higher here, though I didn’t like the oversized head for the Autarch art.

  • Tony Molinari

    BEHOLD, THE SONS OF MAGNUS

  • Andreas Rehn

Amazing game and what an exciting beginning! Anyone else got goose bumps during the intro as you heard the words “All is dust”? πŸ˜€

  • Archmike

Omfg! Guys! That was absolutely fucking incredible! I was so impressed! On the edge of my seat all the time, reacting like i was actually playing the game! The epicness off an incredibly pissed of inquisitor giving no shits about perils and just going for it! Then at the end the contemptuous wiping out of the rest of the infantry in one go like “Be gone peasants, I’m done playing with you” I hope the ferryman can be fixed because that is too awesome a name not to be included again! Can’t wait for the next one! Exclamation marks!!!!!!!11!1!1!!one!!

  • Sam Butler

The best battle report I have ever watched!!! Honestly I felt like I was there, willing the characters on! Too much baddassery, I think I need a lie down!..

  • Tim Garvin

That was great, I thought Bone had it.

  • The Cyril

    Great work Mr Baker!

  • Norad_Marr

    Love it mates!!
Awesome , cool and fun! Badass looking armys as well! πŸ˜€ indeed a merry christmas! πŸ™‚

  • Joe Kerr-Delworth

    Epic.

No other words needed! πŸ˜€ Have a great Christmas and New Year guys!

  • Paul Holroyd

    Fantastic as always!

  • Anders Jeppesen

The crazed rule Lawrence, the craze! The only reason chaos dreads are called helbrutes.

  • John Barber

    Merry christmas everyone!

What an incredible game, thanks for the christmas present TT! Especially Lawrence, who remembered DtTFE!

  • John Glass

I’ve been waiting for this for nigh on 6 months now, checking almost daily the Campaign tab on the website … my God but that was well worth the wait! From that awesome intro to the epic edge of your seat battle, you guys have knocked this out the park. Itching for campaign turn 2 now.

  • Brian Ahrens

I very much enjoyed that, gents. Seeing those pretty Thousand Sons models brings back the desire to paint up a force of those dust bunnies. I don’t need another project!

  • SeΓ‘n Kenny

Legends. Loved it, can’t wait for the second mission. Nollaig Shona daoibh go leir, see ya’ll in the new year!

  • kyle brown

Fantastic to see you guys have some thousand sons now, they are one of my favourite armies. Really enjoyed this, Merry Christmas all you dirty Ducks

  • Modulus42B

An epic return to the narrative scene – really looking forward to seeing where this goes. Also, can we take a moment to appreciate what a magnificent name Ferryman is for an imperial knight! Excellent work guys – merry Christmas! πŸ˜€

  • Anders Jeppesen

Fantastic start to a campaign with my (currently) favourite army πŸ˜€ May the sons of Magnus prevail in the shadow of thr horrible deeds of the corpse Emperor.

  • Kurst

This is epic. I will be happy to replay the campaign with my friends in the club. Merry Christmas.

  • Brendan Duffy

Happy Christmas gang! Did you guys roll for The Ferryman on the results table for next game? I think you mentioned it, and given that he is such a boss, I am hoping he is in subsequent episodes!

  • Arthur Gibbs

I loved the 1st campaign. This one is off to a great start; it looks like this will be even better. Happy Holidays and thanks for the great content!!

  • Aaron Wilson

@tabletoptactics:disqus Happy christmas guys, Lawrence the introduction was incredible, you should be hugely proud of that πŸ˜€

Bbone and Beard thanks so much for the game, it was so much fun to watch πŸ˜€ roll on next segment!

    • Thanks so much mate. It took me ages to get this all together, but I’m glad that folks are enjoying it. Merry Christmas!

  • Merry Christmas ! Awesome batrep ! Hope to see some Eldar in this Campaign πŸ™‚

  • Merry Christmas ! Awesome batrep ! Hope to see some Eldar in this Campaign πŸ™‚ Looking forward to Mission 2 ! πŸ™‚

  • Pol Deckers

This simply is must see TV. Goosebumps. Production OMG. Entertainment value = the whole family in front of the big screen, with a snack and a beverage. Thank you very much.

  • Marc Svensson

Man that was epic guys! The first campaign was what made me a subscriber in the first place, and this looks like it could be even better, can’t wait for the next chapter!

  • T.J. Collier (OKnights112)

    Great work and truly epic!!!

  • TheShadow83

highly anticipated and didn’t disappoint, well done lads!

  • Sidney McGhee

thanks for the christmas gift!! can’t wait to see what happens next!

  • Cameron Bowler

Not much to say Lawrence except amazing job, the whole crew as well, this is exactly what i subscribe for ! And thanks for the TT Dice, they showed up few days before Christmas, perfect timing to purge the Xenos over the holidays with πŸ™‚

    • A pleasure my friend! Merry Christmas to you and your family and may you mark your opponents for death!

  • Ed

    Awsome!
    So so good

Question, what Ordo is the inquisitor?
If it was malleus or heteticus, he should have been re-rolling hits and wounds against the thousand sons warlord in that final combat.

    • Reven

      He was Xenos

      • Ed

        πŸ‘πŸ»

  • Mike Rainbow

Hi Guys, first up Mission 1 was awesome, I put it on my 70” tv and watched it with my two young boys, I’m really new too all this but absolutely love the time and effort you and the team put into it, really well done and look forwards to Mission 2!

  • SeekingOne

Brilliant stuff guys! Lawrence, fantastic job on the campaign as a whole and particularly on the characters – they are just downright awesome. It would be SO hard to wait till the Eldar make their appearance! ;))

  • William Blood

Fantastic job guys – you are killing it as always. Nothing really compares to the quality of the content I find here every time I come.

  • Simon Stevens

That was fantastic. Real big step up, and the Gaius campaign was already great. Love the in-battle scenes – really add to the immersion and storytelling, and love the characters too – excellent trope names!

  • James Clark

Amazing, this is what the hobby is all about.
I am inspired to go fully fluff mode for 2018 now.

  • Deadjericho

    Damn that was really outstanding.

  • Martin Lindby

Just brilliant! wow! Merry Christmas to the team and thank you guys for another epic production. It is such a pleasure to be part of this community. Cheers and keep up the good work. Seriously impressive stuff πŸ™‚

  • Mark

Well Lawrence, you were right, you didn’t disappoint with this!!! Well done. Looking forward to seeing where this goes!
    Keep up the amazing work

  • MichaΕ‚ KoΕ›cielski

    AWEEEESOMEEEE

  • Spam

I live for these campaigns. Nothing fires me up for hobby as much as a good TT Narrative report. I must admit, I thought it was going to be a Drukhari raid at first… I’m sure we’ll see them at the most inopportune time soon enough.

  • Alex Gray

Bloody spectacular guys! I can see my hype over the last few months has been well and truly justified! πŸ˜€ Absolutely love the new addition of the animations too, really helps give the narrative more weight πŸ‘

  • Rob Blatchford

Such a good game, sky-high production values. Really want a Tempestus army with your colour scheme too now!

  • AndrΓ© Ferl

I’d like to see the dice rolls πŸ™

  • Paul Rimmer

Fantastic; loads of fun to watch πŸ™‚

  • Anders Jeppesen

Thousand sons army showcase from July: https://youtu.be/gQ8J11gTNFg

    • Anders Jeppesen

Would you look at that – didn’t know it would just scale the video picture to max πŸ˜€

  • Erik Tasker

I feel like I already commented on this elsewhere, but I am watching it again because this is incredibly good. This is the best 40K content on the internet, hands down

    • You sir are a BOSS. Hopefully have Mission 2 out for you here within the next two weeks before I ship to the LVO πŸ’ͺ

    • muleyyy

Srsly watched this first on my laptop, Laurence was right, it’s wants a big screen.

Keep up the good work guys, love it!

  • Danny Aland

Surprised this hasn’t had more comments, finally got round to watching this today. I’m hooked already, can’t wait for the next episode and how the characters develop. Cut scenes are a nice addition really helping to immerse the viewer into the experience.

I know I’m jumping ahead a little here, but it would be really exciting to see you merging the next 40k narrative campaign with a bit of your D&D series. Rather than having a strict structure where you know the back ground and the route ahead, have each “player” leading an army and their warlord/second in command through a campaign lead by the “narrator”. Just a thought.

Anyway, fantastic stuff keep it up lads!

    • Thanks Danny! Some great thoughts there and something I will consider implementing in the future Campaigns πŸ™‚

  • Toby Proctor

I’ve spent a few years watching batreps online and did not realise they could be this good and this damn engaging! Yes boys!!! Stoked for #2!

  • Chris Stamper

    That was epic
    Awesome work guys

  • Limbless Carpet

Really loved that video and I find myself checking the website everyday for episode 2! I really like the thousand sons choice and I am sure we are going to see an interesting narrative develop in play, maybe a greater hero than Apollo will rise?

  • muleyyy

This video earned you guys a subscription so impressed can’t wait for more
